Sometimes Parenting Sucks.

SONY DSC
Lets talk.
About parenting.
Yes, I know that 90% of the blogs out there talk about parenting regularly, but all of the other bloggers aren't 100% truthful.
Shocking, I know.
I am going to give it to you honestly.
Parenting.
Is.
Hard.

Not like a simple math test that has a distinct right or wrong answer, but a very complicated life changing test that never ends.

Never.Sure I have only been a parent for 8 years, 8 months 15 days, 7 hours but I will tell you that it doesn't get easier as the brats get older.  In fact it gets more difficult, more demanding, more complex and every decision has consequences.

Like being told that "You're the worst mom in the world"
Or "I wish you weren't my mother."
Or "You're mean."
Or telling your children to "get along", and then watching as one boy whips a Hot Wheels car at the other boy, and misses.  Instead hitting the computer screen.

Fun times.

Autumn

Blogger, I am not happy with you. Apparently I have run out of storage for my pics. I didn't even know that they were limiting my space here in the blogosphere.

So now I have to look for other options and I am debating cancelling my account altogether. Because Momma is pissed.

While I decide what to do, enjoy these pictures of autumn around my neighbourhood.

The Face of Evil

 Russell Williams.

Evil.
Sick.
Murderer.
This "thing" was very high up in the Canadian Military.  A Colonel.  Married.  Well respected and admired.

He broke into many, many homes.
Stole lingerie.
Took hundreds of pictures like this.
And murdered two women.
To fulfill his sick fantasies.
Luckily, he was caught and confessed.

But................
Please make sure you lock your doors at night.
Close {and lock} your windows.
Keep a phone close by at all times.
And maybe a baseball bat.

Because you never know what kind of sickos are out there hiding behind a "normal", "perfect" life.

Harvest.

I am not a professional photographer.... although I would love to be.
I have never taken a course.... although I would love to.
So when I was asked to photograph a family farm during Harvest here in our "vegetable capital of Ontario" town, I was flustered, flattered, excited, and scared to death.

And I said yes.

So for the last few weeks, I have hobbled on over to the farm with my camera on one arm and my cast on one foot, and taken hundreds of pictures.

I am kinda known as the paparazzi down this road now. Many old men on bicycles have stopped to ask me why on earth I am out there in the muck with a broken foot taking pictures of onions and carrots.

I just tell them I love taking pictures and nothing excites me more than taking great photographs of simple objects.

Like carrots and onions.

Here is a preview. Just because.

Have You Ever

It's that time again my friends. Time to ask others if they have ever done/thought/wanted/had/watched the same stuff as you so you can feel like you are not alone in this big, crazy world.

Because sometimes I feel like I am alone in this big, scary universe and I get a little bit worried.

So instead of drinking, I ask others to make sure they have similar thoughts and experiences.

And, so far, it has kept me out of the psych ward......and rehab.

So far.

Have you ever wondered who invented PA Days? I plan my life around my kids being at school and when the big wigs at the school boards decide to give the kids a day off so teachers can get more training, it cramps my style. Just sayin'.

Have you ever seen a longer sentence then the one I just wrote?

Have you ever bought your daughter a stroller excited to see her push around her dolls?
And then she decides to load it up with tractors instead?

Have you ever bought expensive shaving cream so you could shave your legs and not get a rash?
And then your children have a shower and use the entire can making potions?

Have you ever purchased a new container of dish soap?
And then your children decide to clean the floors...with the entire bottle?

How about purchasing a new box of food colouring and then finding your children dumping it all into a Ziploc bag of water because they are "doing an experiment"?

Have you ever found chewed gum dropped in random places throughout your home?

Remind me why I don't drink.

Convince me not to run away from home.

Because Iamthisclose.

Have you ever seen a gourd that looks like this and thought naughty thoughts?  Or is it just me?
I blame the chaos that is my life.

That's my excuse and I am sticking to it.

Now write a Have You Ever post and share the link here so we can let you know that your life isn't that bad..........

Orange. Again.

Orange.
One of my favourite colours.
So much so that I dedicated an entire post to it recently.
I am in love with the many orange shades that decorate the outdoors at this time of year.
I love that it just brightens my mood.  And I need that right now.
So when the subject for You Capture this week was orange, how could I resist?

The Latest Fashion Trend

Have you seen the latest trend to hit the runways this winter?
The look is unique.
The footwear is...well....uncomfortable.
No, it is not these.

It is called the Mommy Jeans with Big, Frumpy Cast Look.

I think it will be big.
Especially for those Mommy's who want to lug around a huge ski boot all day long and have their hips out of joint because their legs are off balance.

It is great fun. *Not*
And I look forward to putting it on every morning. *Not*

What do you think?
Should I wrap it in a nice fabric?
Add some stickers?
Get people to sign it?

Check this place out.  It is fun.  I want to hang out with this girl but feel she is too popular for me.
*sigh*

Have You Ever

It's that time again my friends. Time to ask others if they have ever done/thought/wanted/had/watched the same stuff as you so you can feel like you are not alone in this big, crazy world.

In other words, it is time to humour Momma and join in on the fun so we can all feel good about ourselves and not so strange.

Have you ever been so depressed that you just ate crap food for two days straight?

Have you ever bought a box of Halloween treats, hidden them and eaten them all yourself?

No? Me neither. *cough*

Have you ever seen a carrot that looks like this?
Have you ever cried while watching the rescue of Chilean miners?
Or the nightly news?
Or Wizards of Waverley Place
 Just askin'.

*Have you ever wondered why these are so fascinating and popular?
Have you ever had an unexplainable interest in Russell Brand and weren't sure why because he is not the most attractive person and wears unusual clothing?

Hmm....

Maybe it is because he managed to snatch the most beautiful girl in the world. {aka Katy Perry}

Have you ever wanted to win the lottery?
Or just a contest?
Or a blog giveaway?

Like the giveaway I held a few weeks ago and the giveaway that still doesn't have a winner?
I will get to it eventually.
I blame it on my broken foot.
And depressed mind.
And the mini Halloween chocolate bar high.

I will get to it.  Eventually.

Now will you just join in and not allow me to be the only contributor this week?
Please.
And thank you.
Just write a Have You Ever post and link the url here.
Thats not much to ask is it?

Non-Existent Office

I am cheating. This is almost the same post I wrote last year when I made the huge mistake of showing you our very unfinished office.
It still looks the same.
Except messier.
And why take pictures of a messy, unfinished room twice? There is no way I could make it look any better.
Anyways, don't judge us. We are a busy family, who apparently spends what little money we have on other things...like groceries.
Damn kids.
Who would have thought they would actually have to eat?
Geesh.

I admit it. My office is in complete disarray.

It is currently an empty room.

With a computer on an old kitchen table.
And empty boxes.
And toys.

So basically it is our junk room.

I am thoughtful enough to not put you through the misery of witnessing our mess.

I am nice like that.

You're welcome.

What I will do is show you a few non-messy pictures of the colours of the room that I will not be changing because we love them

And then I will tell you about the look I would love to have.

Sound good?

Then you can tell me to go ahead and spend thousands of dollars to make it look awesome.

And you will also give me the $$ to do it because you're nice like that.

Right?

This is the hardwood floor. It is dark. And I have a few of these baskets that will eventually be used in here.

This is the paint colour.  I like to call it caramel but it almost looks orange in the picture. It is not orange. Honest.

Not that there is anything wrong with orange.
I actually like the colour very much.

The window without any curtains.  Ugh.

My plan is this.
Have a dark coloured desk with bookshelf.
A puurty area rug.

Some plants. Because I love plants!

And some artwork that we have sitting around waiting to be hung up.

Then I will put some locks on the door so I can spend hours of uninterrupted time on my laptop editing photographs and blogging. Because that is what I like to do so much.

Now will someone just pay me to do it.

But anyways, in all honesty the plan I have for this room is to make it a "homework room" for the kidlets. I want a common place for them to have all of the necessary "school stuff" so they can comfortably (and willingly) complete their homework in a central location.

And so Momma can keep a close eye on what they search for on the Internet.

Because if you knew what my 8 year old has already been caught searching, you might just cry.

I did.

I need counselling because of it.

I digress......

A very long post for an almost non existent room. You will be the first to know when it finally gets completed.

As soon as the donations come pouring in.
And my children no longer feel the need to eat.

You can go here to view more {finished} offices.
