A Conversation with my 4 Year Old

"Tomorrow you have an appointment at the dentist."
"Why?"
"So she can clean your teeth and make sure you dont have any cavities."
"Why?"
"Because that is what dentists do."
"Why?"
"Because the stars are in the sky."
"Huh?"

"I wish I had a pretty pink dress like you, Princess"
"Why?"
"Because I like pink."
"Why?"
"Because pickles are green."
"Huh?"

"Mom, can you play Play Doh wif me?"
"Sure, as soon as I am finished folding laundry."
"Why?"
"Because it needs to be folded so I can put the wet clothes in the dryer."
"Why?"
"Because flowers are pretty."
"Huh?"

Does anyone else want to scream after these conversations?
Do you think it is fun to give answers that make absolutely no sense?
Am I a horrible parent?
I thought so.
Maybe I should teach her the correct words to this song.....but I love to hear her make up her own.
I am going to Hell.

How does my garden grow?

Well, I will tell you.
So far, so good.
But I hate weeds, and every morning when I check out my baby {aka garden}, I almost cry because the weeds are back.
Its like they have a meeting every night when I go inside and do the evil laugh because I just spent my afternoon pulling them out.
And then they all spend the night growing larger then they were before.

Do I put straw down in the rows between the veggie rows?
Do I hire people who enjoy weeding 24/7?
Do I just suck it up?

Anyways, here is the progress.

Grapes. Coming along nicely.
DSC_0018

Kale. Awesome! But I know nothing about it. I am just determined to make kale chips. Someone tell me what I need to do so I dont have to Google it please and thank you.
DSC_0020

Broccoli. Looks good so far but we didnt have any luck last year with it. Fingers crossed.
DSC_0021

Tomatoes. Look at the flowers!!! Tomatoes arent far away!
DSC_0022

Watermelon. Lookin good but we have never had success with them.
DSC_0023

Squash. Yeah baby!!!
DSC_0024

Cucumber. We always have lots of success with the cucs!!
DSC_0025

Onions. Good, so far. As long as I dont pick them too early like I did last year!
DSC_0026

Lettuce. Success!
DSC_0019

Strawberries. There have been alot but they are very small, and we are lucky to get them before the critters.
DSC_0029

Fruit trees. No sign of any fruit. This makes me very sad.
DSC_0031

My plan over the next couple months?
To harvest the food that the weeds {and I} love so much.
Then set up a stand at the end of my driveway.
Wear my apron, Laura Ingalls bonnet and sell it all.
Maybe we can even get some chickens so I can sell the eggs.

Ok, maybe not.
But it would be good blog material right?

I am a country girl.
How the heck did this happen?

FYI....I do not actually own a Laura Ingalls bonnet, just in case you were wondering.

*sniff*

My children are growing up and there is not a friggin thing I can do to stop it.
Someone give me the magic potion.
Someone fill me in on how to stop time, because if I could, I would.

My baby girl graduated from preschool.
DSC_1040
My third and last baby exited the doors of the small preschool for the last time.
And so did I.
DSC_1019
I was sure that it was going to be a very emotional morning.
I actually prepared myself for the ugly cry.
DSC_1020DSC_1021
My last baby walked on up to the front of the class+parents+grandparents to receive her diploma.
And as I clicked my camera, my eyes remained dry.
My frown turned upside down.
DSC_1029
Because I was experiencing this moment....again.
I was proud.
Happy.
DSC_1031
I breathed in this morning.
Every second of it.
And I stored it away in my brain beside Messy's graduation and Rowdy's graduation.
DSC_1027
Because, as my children grow, I am learning that time goes by faster and faster.
And no matter how hard I try to slow it down, it actually speeds up.
DSC_1025
Before I blink, they will be graduating from grade 8....high school....university...
DSC_1041
And I will breathe in each moment
and store it away
with the many other moments I experience during this parenting journey.

Being a Momma is so wonderful
difficult
emotional

Group hug please.
I need to do the ugly cry now.

Randomness

Yo....
Is randomness a word??

*The kittens have been hidden by their mother..again.  The biatch went and hid them in a place that I just cannot find.  Doesn't she know I need pictures?

*I posted this pic on Instagram recently and lets just get a few things out in the open before I completely lose my shit and check myself into the psych ward

This is me. {in a very large photo}
Yes, I was wearing clothing.
I was told I look "young".
I was told it looks nothing like me.
I was told I look "great".
So, apparently in real life I look old and shitastic.
I now refuse to leave my house fearful of what people really think when they see me.

*Saw the movie "Brave". Great "girl power" movie but quite scary. I spent some time with my face in daughters face so she couldn't see the big scary bears.

*$50 to go see a movie and eat some popcorn is ridiculous

*My last baby graduated preschool. Hold me. Give me alcohol. And chocolate.
DSC_1041

*The boys finish school this week and are already acting like they have snorted 52 pouches of
Kool Aid sugar.
Hold me.
Tell me I will survive the next 2 months.

*My new favourite blog
When bloggers swear, it makes me happy.
Weird, yes.
I just like when people speak their minds not worrying about what others think.
And the Ryan Gosling thing is complete hilarious-Ito.

*Studley crapped on the floor again. I think he has fecal incontinence and I am thinking we might need to get him some diapers. Black ones might not look too bad right?

*Is there any female who will not be seeing this movie this weekend?

*Can someone buy me this please and thank you?

*Question.....does this pic look like me? Do I look "young" here? "Great"?

Yes, I am PMS-ing.....

Maybe I should just shut myself up.....now....

I still love you guys.
Group hug.

Bienvenue! {That is "Welcome" in French}

It is so friggin hot here people.
Yes, believe it or not, Canada gets warm hot weather and this week is about all I can handle for the summer when we don't own a swimming pool.
So, we used our imaginations.
d1bfa032bb0711e1ab011231381052c0_7
Yeah, it still sucked.
We need a pool.
We need to live somewhere with waterfront property.
We need to move south where the air isn't so humid.
We need to win the lottery.
We need to...ummm....buy lottery tickets so we can win.

Anyways, on a totally unrelated topic, today I am showing you my dining room which isn't really a dining room because it is kinda in my kitchen, not separated by any walls.

Make sense?

Didn't think so.

When we re-did the house, we took down a wall and opened the kitchen up so it was one big, huge room with high ceilings. We did not want a separate dining room because it would rarely get used and just collect junk.

So this is what we ended up with.
DSC_1007

Hubby picked out the furniture, can you tell?
Dark, manly, Hugh-Hefner-like.
I put up a good fight, but in the end he won and ended up getting his big, huge table that we cant touch because God forbid it might get a scratch!!!
Love you honey.
DSC_1008DSC_1012
Hubby also picked out the light fixtures.
I like them....now.
DSC_1010DSC_1009
My concerns with this "area" are wall space.
There is none.
And this window.
This huge, bare window that has no coverings at all.
We live on a country road that doesn't get many cars or walkers, but it is still bare and gets really sunny in the late afternoon.
Help...please and thank you.
DSC_1013
Not much else to say.
It is a simple, plain area with an ugly centerpiece and no window coverings or photographs on the wall, but it does the job.
When we have people over, there is somewhere to sit....and I don't have to walk very far to get stuff from the kitchen.
DSC_1011
There is wall space over there but it is high and I am lazy.
Can someone make it look pretty?
DSC_1014

We just have to be careful that we don't scratch hubby's precious table.
*ahem*
Do you have a separate dining room?
Does it get used or does it collect junk?
