I used to be one of those people who could eat anything they wanted and never gained weight.
And then I grew up.
Then I had three children who destroyed my body.
Damn them.
I like to say that the stretch marks are my trophy for carrying three healthy, perfect, large children. And so is the cellulite, gray hair, saggy boobs, wrinkles and "mushy skin".
But whatever.
Over the last 6 months I have been on a journey.
A weight loss journey. A healthy living journey.
33pounds lost
39inches gone
Yay me.
After experiencing a death in the family, having a house built, selling a home, carrying and birthing my third child, moving two weeks after she was born and..well....hormones, I got into a funk.
A deep, dark, black hole is more like it.
I ate what was around. I drank anything with sugar and caffeine. I made myself known at the local Drive-thru fast food joints and just lived an unhealthy lifestyle to soothe my ever changing emotions.
Not fun, my friends. Not fun at all.
December 2009 I decided I needed to make a change and so began an entirely new life journey.
It has been a battle, that I am still "fighting" but along the way I have learned a few things.
*Salt is bad. Cut it out and your body will thank you.
*Processed/packaged food is full of salt and other chemicals that are very bad. Do not buy it. Stay far, far away from it.
*Protein constipates you. Or maybe it is just me.
*Your body likes vegetables. Eat them.
*Exercise will change your body and your emotions....and is the key to losing and keeping the weight off
*Watermelon and microwave popcorn aren't good for your body as they convert to sugar (which turns into fat) as soon as they hit your gut. I learned this after pigging out on both and gaining a pound in 3 days.
*Pop does the same thing
*And orange Kool Aid
*No matter how much your children annoy you and make you want to eat an entire bag of chips, DO NOT DO IT! You will feel terrible after.
*Fiber is good for constipation. Just sayin.
*When your body takes in "good food" it won't crave the "bad food". Amazing huh?
*Eating in the evening is a very, VERY bad thing.
*Turkey bacon is yummy
*Ground beef is gross. Substitute ground turkey for ground beef and you will save many calories and not have your house smelling like a dead cow.
Dead turkey smells so much better.
Anything else you have learned in your weight loss journey that you want to share???

Wow! 33 pounds and 39 inches - YOU ROCK!!
Now, if I could just get on board with your tips maybe I could shed those last few pounds....
Whoo hoo!
I'm at 29.8... I don't know how many inches. I should have measured before I started!
Here's my tip... the more water you drink, the more you want! So drink lots, and pee the pounds away!
I've also cut out most of the 'whole grains' as well and we now eat sprouted grain bread and cereal and it's SO good and is much better for you!
We get the Ezekiel brand here in the U.S. and it's in the freezer section of the store...
I used to be one of those people who never had to watch what they eat ... but now I do and it is very very hard to make the switch.
I totally appreciate your advice because you are a REAL person and tell it like it is and you've had excellent results. I really must do something about this. I've been eating badly for way too long.
I thought I was the only one who smelled dead cow! (With a hint of cow dung too)
