I used to think.......

.....that parenting would be easy. Feed, clothe, cuddle and love your kids. That was all they needed. Then I find out that you have to discipline, set boundaries and basically change your entire life. Hmmph.

I used to think that 33 3/4 is old. Life is almost over so bring out the dentures and diapers. Once I hit 34, they may as well lock me up in a home. Now I know that being almost 34 is no different than being 20-except I am smarter, happier and know what I want in life.

I used to think that reading was boring. There was so much more to do in life than sit and read "fake" stories. Like, sleep and watch TV. Now I know that reading is enjoyable. Reading is educational. Reading is relaxing.

I used to think that living in the country was the worst thing EVER. Why would someone want to be without neighbours? Why would you want such a large area when you really only use your house? Now I know that it is peaceful. There is so much to do. We never converse with our neighbours anyways because they are weird and smell funny.

I used to think that appearance is everything. Now I know that if someone judges you because of your appearance then they are not worth getting to know. So there.

I used to crave attention. Now I avoid it at all costs.

I used to think staying up until 2am was cool. Now I think it is stupid. The cool ones go to bed at 10pm. Teehee.

I used to think that having children would complete me. I was right.

Yeah.

Uh huh.

I really said "complete me".

Dork. I know.

I loved that. I thought 34 was old... until I turned it, then I thought 35 was old, until I turned it. Now I KNOW 36 is the new 25. At least I keep telling myself that.

It's funny how when you are 16 then 25 is old. When you are 21, you can't imagine how people live over 30. I am now 33 and wouldn't change my life for the world. It's amazing how people want to grow up so fast but never age. Age brings maturity, joy and beauty. I think I look better now than I ever have....well maybe too fat but otherwords better!! Ha!

It is funny how one's perspective changes as time goes by.

Loved this writer's workshop response. I agree with the part of being over 30 and finally knowing what I want and feeling happy and content with life. And not worrying about appearances because those are SO overrated. Now...I'm not feeling so cool because it's after 10 p.m. and I really should be in bed. I am SO not a 2 a.m.-er. Thanks for letting me pop in....
