Remembering........

Ok, my friends. MamaKat has given out her assignment for the week and I liked all of the prompts. Truthfully, it was tough to choose just one.

I remember when......

I was at the mall the other day.

I was minding my own business pushing my toddler in her stroller and searching for a dress for myself. I know, I know....it's crazy. I was actually shopping for myself but I have to. I have an upcoming wedding (that my son is in) and I dont think the dress code is jeans and sweatshirts.

Anyways, I noticed an older lady pushing a stroller. A pretty pink and gray stroller. She even had a small matching bag hanging from the handle. Nice.

"Oh, how sweet. A grandmother has taken her granddaughter out while Mommy gets some rest."

It was a small stroller and looked like the baby was laying right down so I glanced over as I passed them.

IT WAS A DOG!

A small long haired white dog!

This mutt was sound asleep in her stroller cuddled up with a pink blanket. There was a chew toy beside it and some sort of stuffed animal on the other side.

Yes, I am serious.

I apologize to my dog obsessed loving friends but pu-lllease. This is taking it too far. Way too far actually. This lady was in the mall! I mean, who brings their pet shopping? In a stroller? With a matching bag? And pink blankie?

Unless you have special needs that requires you to bring along your pet for assistance, leave the animals at home.

Or be willing to be stared at and talked about in blogs.

I love my dog. I love all animals but I am sure this mutt would have been just fine if you left her at home in her pink dog bed.

Geesh.

Now go check out many other completed assignments. I am sure they all deserve A+'s!!!!!
But make sure you check out my Thousand Words Thursday post. It is frickin hilarious...if I do say so myself!

LOL! This happened to many so many times when we lived in Japan that I lost count. But each time it was hard for me to supress the laughter. There are just so many tiny dogs in Japan and endless stretches of cement sidewalks, so a lot of people push their dogs around in strollers, carts, suitcases, etc. I couldn't believe it at first, but that's how they (the people) can keep up their pace without having to do poop patrol!

Once we put our dog in the stroller for fun, but never on a regular basis. We have also put our dog in the high-chair once on Thanksgiving since he loves to watch us when we eat.

Ohhhh. I sooo agree... the dog in a purse at a restaurant is something I am over too. I mean... when did restaurants start allowing a dog in, if it was in a pocket or purse?

My mom is a hairdresser, and a little dog popped out of a client pocket and my Mom almost accidently killed it thinking it was a rat!!!

It would have taken all my restraint not to say anything to her. Hello, are you crazy lady!?!?!

Stopping by from Mama Kat's!
I have seen this kind of thing way too often...I just can't rationalize it. Dogs have legs, they like to walk...I guess the silver lining is that she's fueling the economy with her delusion right?!

OMG I think thats nuts ... I love my dog but I wont be pushing her in a stoller or throwing her a birthday party either.

LOL- I think that this just so nuts also. Why would you want to do this and have to push a stroller through a mall when you don't have to??? Oh I so agree with you!

Wow, I've heard of people treating their pets like children but this takes it to an entirely new, and unhealthy, level! I agree, pets are meant to exercise not be pampered like this! I think this is just one more thing we have to 'thank' Paris Hilton for...ugh!

Stopping by from Mama Kat's.

That reminds me when we were at a mall in California and there were dogs everywhere dressed up and in strollers, apparently that is the thing to do there.

LOL!! Definitely too much. I probably would have laughed out loud at her.

Yikes. I want to know what mall allows dogs and other pets inside. Wow. Just.... wow.

That is so blog-worthy. And a little crazy. I love dogs too, but isn't there a child out there somewhere who would better benefit from that type of attention and devotion?

Good luck with the wedding!

OK, so I am going to be a devil's advocate here. I like dogs and all animals. but I don't have a dog. But what's the big deal? Was the dog bothering anyone? Was the woman harming the dog in any way? It would be different if it were a mean or barking dog disturbing people or perhaps biting them.

There might be a reason for the person wanting to push a stroller. I have back and knee problems. I like pushing a shopping cart, even if I don't really need one, because I can lean on it to take some pressure off my joints ---it's kind of like a walker but doesn't make me feel so ancient. I can walk without the cart, but it is much less painful with one. Maybe the person is lonely ---doesn't have family or friends, except for the dog. I try to see things from that person's point of view ---and then I realize s/he may have a reason for such behavior. I'm pretty accepting, as long as what someone is doing isn't dangerous or harmful to him/herself or others.

Do you think they were trying to sneak the dog around the mall? Seriously though, I don't get it unless she was trying to pull one over. I notice people taking those little purse puppies more and more places lately - and for the most part they aren't very well socialized dogs. Today at Pet Sense a woman had a growling chihuahua in her purse, then on a leash, and she told my daughter to be careful not make eye contact! (visiting via MamaKat's :)
