Overwhelmed

I have to admit that I am in a bit of a "funk" lately. Spending 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with three misbehaved children and horrible weather makes for a very tired, stressed out Mommy. And I am not at the Blogher conference. Enough about that.

I have played with my kids.
I have taken them to fun places.
I have watched them play.
I chauffeur them around to their many appointments and social engagements.
I cook for them.
I clean up after them.
I smile.
I tell them I love them even though they have caused my blood pressure to spike multiple times that day.
I kiss them.
And hug them.

I praise them for their accomplishments and teach them when they need teaching.

I remind myself that I am truly blessed for my smart, beautiful, healthy children.

But.........

I am overwhelmed.

I am tired.

I want to put myself "first" once in awhile.

I want to do things for me occasionally.

Do you ever feel this way?

I am tired and stressed 24/7. I never put myself first, that's why I blog. It is my escape. It is my hobby. It is my therapy. I wish I was at Blogher. Aloha and take care.

Do you have a significant other? Can he/she watch the kids once in a while to allow you some me time? Me time is just so important for us.

Yes. Just about every day and I only have one kid. Although I do keep 2 others.

All the time. Not necessarily with our kids (my wife does though) but definitely yes with other aspects of life. It's much better now that we "plan" time to do other things.

Absolutely! I can hardly wait for school to start.

Little hint. My mom used to go away for 9 days w/o us. This was back in the early '70s through the '80s. We had a trailer & dad would pull it up into the mts & mom would drive her car up too. They'd spend the weekend together & then Dad would come back to us while mom had a great time ALL ALONE. I've never gotten to try it but I sure would like to.

Things have been tough and I'm really struggling with a funk/depression. I'd like to be completely happy for once!

My next post will be a list of things I have and all the good because I'm totally focused on the bad.

Big hugs! You are not alone!!!

yes. ur not alone. And on top of that, then I feel guilty for having the 3 beautiful, wonderful, smart children, and being overwhelmed.

of course! And sometimes I let my kids watch tv and play all day long while I completely ignore them and read a book. and my husband orders pizza. :) My kids survive these days. In fact, I think they might like them. :)

I do feel like this and try to take a break from life when I do. Can anyone watch your kids for you, even just for a few hours? :)

ABSOLUTELY!!!! I just want a vacation...with my husband...with no kids.
I love my kids very much but I feel like I need to recharge. And I swear I will love them and have found all my lost patience...IF I CAN JUST GET AWAY FOR 3 DAYS!!

All the time. Parenting is the toughest job in the world! Make sure you take some time to take care of yourself, too. :-)

I hope by now that you are out of your funk. And yes, you need to put yourself first once in a while.
