A letter from my teenaged crush

Dear Momma
I'm sorry. I tried to overcome all of my issues. I tried to get clean and live the kind of life everyone hoped for me. I tried. But I just couldn't do it.

I know how much you loved me in "The Lost Boys", "Lucas" and "License to Drive". I know as a teenager, you secretly wished that we would run into each other when I lived in Toronto, fall madly in love and live happily ever after.

I also know that you believed I would overcome my demons and hoped that my life would turn around.

You believed I deserved it.

Thank you.

Addiction is a horrible, horrible thing and I am so disappointed that I will now be considered a statistic. I now join the list of celebrities who have been taken so young because of an addiction.

River Phoenix.
Elvis.
Marilyn.
Heath Ledger.
Michael Jackson.
Jimi Hendrix.
Chris Farley.

Sad huh?

I am sorry. Just know that I am now at peace and I am not hurting.

I just wish you and the rest of the girls who once loved me weren't.

Love Corey Haim

Oh my gosh, that was touching. I'm not ashamed to say I am now teary eyed over Corey Haim. Man did I LOVE him as a kid. I think I watched Lost Boys, License To Drive, and Dream a Little Dream a million times.

It's so sad. I hated who he became and wanted so desperately to be sober.

I'd love it you linked this up with me tomorrow.

so sad that he is now just another statistic.

Rip my heart out. I was in love with the Coreys growing up, though I was more on the Feldman side of things until recently. Watching Haim on their A&E show had me rooting for him so hard. How much could he have accomplished had he stayed clean. So sad. I loved him in Dream a Little Dream as Dinger.

Coming through Writer's Workshop.
I wanted to write about Corey after reading about his death yesterday, but I think you did it best.I was so sad to hear he is just another statistic now. It goes to show what is wrong with fame and society.

This was awesome, you did a great job. I was so sad. I watched the two Corey's show and he really seemed so sad, and so desperate. (okay, and let's give the boy some props, so hot!)

Yeah, it was a shock to me too. Had grown up with him on the big screen in front of me, making my heart race with a massive crush on him. Sigh....at least he is at peace.

Poor Corey- I feel so badly for all the families of the people that have passed in recent months.

I want to both laugh and cry. Laugh because so many of us DID (still do?) love him, and cry because it was so well written!

Wow! Powerful post. It really is sad to see what drugs (and often fame) can do to a person.

You did a really good job with this. It was totally respectful but said something too. It is always sad when young people (famous or not) die like this.
