Once again I have been reminded that I am getting old.

On Sunday my husband reminded me that this was my tenth Mother's Day.
I almost had a full-out panic attack.
Like breaking out in the ugly cry and rocking back and forth in the corner kind of panic attack.
Why does time have to go so fast once you experience the greatest joy of your life?
Parenthood.

In a moment of feeling sorry for myself I looked back in the photo albums.
I still remember the smallest of moments.
Like when oldest child sat out in the backyard and shared his pretzels with Studley.
Or when middle child had the largest, grossest blueberry poop ever.
And when we brought youngest child home and oldest child asked if he was dreaming.

*sniff*

I found the many pictures that I have taken every year of each child wearing Daddy's shirts and Mommy's apron.
A yearly "tradition" that is quickly becoming "stupid" to the oldest child.
But I tell him to "zip it" because he will be doing it until he moves out.
Or maybe until he is 75.

Look at my babies when they were 1 year old...and then this year when they are 9, 7 and 3.

Messy.

Dear Time.
Please slow down.

I wish I had done the shirt thing w/my kids. I never heard of it until it was to late. Darn it.

I did this same thing with my wedding dress. Well, for Reid only and I only did it twice. Once when she was an infant and then again at 2. Then the dress went way up in the rafters.....

I'm with Julie - I wish I'd heard of the shirt thing when mine was younger. I agree it goes far, far too fast.

Why must time fly by so fast? LOVE the comparisons - wish I had known about the shirt/apron thing! Is it too late to start at eight? ;)

No matter how fast times flies or how old you get you will always be a GREAT mom. Happy (belated) Mother's Day! I LOVE all the pictures & that tradition is so cute! Princess S. and I need to start our own tradition, maybe I'll let her wear my tiara & my shoes. *Thinking*. =D

I love love LOVE your tradition. Where was your blog 14 years ago when I could have started it?

I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day. Time goes way too quickly. Although some days don't go fast enough! Oh, the irony of life. That's why we try to enjoy and capture every little elusive moment.
