He likes to eat.
He minds his own business, unless you are a German Shepherd dog running around his feet.
He is strong. Just ask the German Shepherd dog who got kicked after running around Duke's feet.
Duke is a worker.
He pulls wagons, carriages, sleighs and even children on sleighs behind a sleigh.
Make sense?
Duke is handsome.
We love him.
Then there is Ike the 2000+ Percheron gelding.
He is a rascal.
He enjoys posing for the camera, escaping from his stall and chasing things.
Things=cats.
Ike is handsome.
He helps Duke pull wagons, carriages, sleighs and children on sleighs.
When he feels like it.
Maybe if we had cats leading the way, Ike would be a better worker.

Draft horses have always been my favorites!!! Always will be and I so enjoyed your photos of them.
Forget dangling a carrot to make your horses move. Just put a cat in front. :) We love our pair of aging Percherons. Drafts are awesome.
Gorgeous. My stallion Clydesdale used to be a worker. He used to pull wagons. Now he is a very big and very expensive lawn ornament. He is good at mowing and fertilizing, though ;)
He is GORGEOUS! And I got a good giggle from him chasing the cats - hysterical! :) Awesome shots! :)
The 5-Dollar 100 Year Old Dragon
Great Photos!
My FIL still uses Belgian's to log in Montana. Happy WW :)

Lovely post!
Great photos and background info! Ouch, is that cracked hoof on Duke?
Those are a couple of big, beautiful horses.
Thank you for joining in 'Rurality Blog Hop #3' Hope to see you next Wednesday for #4...
Great shots! I always wanted a horse growing up. Even a lazy one would be okay with me.
