He thought it was pretty funny when his daughter moved to the country.
The daughter who didn't like bugs....
...or rodents...
...or dirt.
My dad always laughed when he saw me in my rubber boots and farm coat.
And when he saw the tractors...
...vegetable garden...
...messy children...
...and runaway pets
he smiled and commented on my country life.
Because he never, in a million years thought I would end up a country girl.
His daughter makes jam...
...relishes...
...pickles.
And my dad....he rode his motorcycle and threatened to move his trailer to our back field so he and mom could live there during their retirement.
I am so sad it wont happen.
It has been 8 days since my Daddy went to Heaven.
I am sure he is still giggling about my country life.
That's OK.
Because I am going to plant him a tree and take care of it while wearing my rubber boots and farm coat.
Then I will be laughing

Country girls rock. What a lovely tribute to your Dad.
My dad died more than 30 years ago, when he was just 65. I still miss him....he was the teacher-turned-cattle rancher and farmer whose eldest daughter never lived on a farm after going off to college. You're doing beautifully in your country life.
