5 things about me....and la familia

True story.
I have just sat here for 10 minutes trying to think of something to share with you that you don't already know.

True story.
You guys know too much about me.

1.  Jersey the dog has started obedience training.  I am pretty sure that taking him into the pet store where his class happens is the closest I will ever get to Hell.  People, he is bad.  The barking, the jumping, the tryingtoattacksmalldogs.  Hell on Earth.

I am convinced he will fail.
{This is Jersey.  Laying in the shower.  Whatever.}

2.  Tomorrow is Rowdy's birthday.  He will be 9.  I am not OK with my children growing up.  I am not OK with my 9 year old boy having bigger feet and hands than me.  I am not OK with him almost being as tall as me.  I am not OK with the amount of $$$ we spend on groceries and he isn't even a teenager yet.

Group hug.

3.  I love peanut butter and Cheez Whiz sandwiches.  There.  I said it.

4.  I am back seeing my therapist and I think I almost scared her away with my mental instability.
Apparently I am a mess.
Apparently missing my daddy has taken a toll on me.
Apparently I need reflexology.
And massages.
And yoga.
To release the pain and help with my mental healing.
Mumbo jumbo if you ask me, but I will do it if it makes me feel a tad more sane.

True story.
I went to reflexology and the nice lady knew I was a mess just from touching my feet.

5. Princess started gymnastics.  She is determined to learn how to do a cartwheel but her flexibility is...ummm.... just like her dad.
That's it.
That's all I have for now.

Ciao.

I bet Mama Kat isn't messed up.

A Po-etter to Lance Armstrong

One of MamaKat's prompts this week was to write an open letter to men. This is mine. To one man.
I like to call it a po-etter.
Half poem
Half letter

What were you thinking?
Did you think it was right?
To lie to the world
and tell us everything was alright.

Did you think you could go on lying
Telling them they were wrong
That you never did illegal drugs
And competing was where you belong

The medals you won
The competitors you beat
The endorsements and sponsors
And friends of the elite

It was all just a show
Because of your selfish deeds
And many were hurt
Their forgiveness you will need

Despite your horrible actions
over many, many years
I have one thing to say
so I have to change gears

The money you raised
raising millions for cancer
is the one good outcome
and the only good answer

To the question we will ask
in the many years ahead
What did Lance Armstrong accomplish?
Aside from the lies that he said

I like saying the word nifty.

Blow Me.
I don't use the phrase often, but think that should change immediately just because it is so funny and ridiculous.
And if Pink sounds cool singing it, then I should probably sound a tad nifty saying it.

"Hi Vikki. How are you?"
"Blow me"

"Hey Vikki, you look mighty fantabulous today in those comfy pants and that ripped sweatshirt."
"Blow me"

"Your dog is hurt again?"
"Blow me"

"Isn't it wonderful walking through the mall making your way through the Christmas season crowds?"
"Blow me"

"Don't you love it when you order three items online and only 2 get shipped?"
"Blow me"

"Mom, I need new indoor shoes.
I lost my gloves.
My snow pants are too small.
I hate this dinner.
It's 9pm and I have homework."
"Blow me"

I feel so much better now.

I Just Needed a Reason to Search Pinterest for Stuff I Will Never Have. Now I am Depressed.

I secretly dream of owning a small cottage in the woods.....with some ocean/lakefront property.
Nothing big and fancy.
Just home-y and rustic with some feminine touches.

I want a place that isn't too overwhelming to care for but nice enough to welcome my family comfortably.
I want natural and simple home decor.
I want many windows with pretty window coverings.
I want comfy lawn chairs with a nice deck overlooking the water.

I want a dog to sit by my side as I drink my girly drink(s).
I want my kids to bring their kids to my home-y home.
So we can hang out.
Play.
And they can fetch me more girly drinks.

I am madly in love with barn wood stairs!

Source
And beam ceilings!!!!!

Ohmygoodness!  A bench made from barn beams!
If I had one, I might hug and kiss it.
If anyone finds an old ladder, please get it for me, please and thank you.
I will love you forever.
And would probably hug and kiss you.

The reason for this post?
None.

What does your dream home look like?

Lung Cancer Awareness Month

37 years ago today my father's youngest brother was killed in an accident. Since then my father's parents, older brother and my father himself have joined my Uncle Rick in Heaven.
An entire family.
Gone.
Where is the "dislike" button?
The "not fair" button?

What do Walt Disney, Peter Jennings, Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, my Uncle {dad's brother} and my Dad have in common?

Lung cancer.
November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Did you know that???

*Lung Cancer is the deadliest of all cancers.
*In fact it causes more deaths than colon, breast and prostate cancer combined.
*Over half of all people diagnosed with lung cancer, die within one year. My dad lived for almost 16 months.
*Smoking is responsible for the majority of lung cancer cases, BUT it is not the only factor.
*Most cases of lung cancer are not discovered until the disease is very advanced.

I am not one to lecture or judge, but when I see someone smoking, I want to yell at them.
I want to tell them about the hell my young father went through.
The endless appointments.
Procedures.
Medication.
Nurse visits.
Chemo/Radiation.
Being hooked up to oxygen 24/7.
Weight loss.
Hospital visits.

And now he is gone. At 61.

When he should be enjoying retirement with my Mama.
When he should be enjoying his grandchildren.
When he should be enjoying life.
Please don't smoke.
Please donate to lung cancer research.
Please hug your Daddy tight.

The day we went for a hike and my children didnt go missing.

I love fall.
I love my Mama.
I love when my Mama comes over so we can go for a fall hike through the hills of the end of our road, which used to be a road, but now is just a closed road full of hills and dirt.
Full of orange and red and yellow leaves.
Full of wildlife that we didn't see because my children are so incredibly loud that the creatures hear us from miles away.

Last time we hiked up there, the boys hid on us and wouldn't answer as we screamed their names and searched high and low for any signs of life.
We were convinced a bear ate them, or coyotes surrounded them and scurried off with them in their mouths.  We were sure a pedophile found them and convinced them {with candy} to come to his wilderness cabin to play touchy feely games.
It's amazing how many horrible thoughts go through your head when you think your children are missing.

But anyways...........

We survived this hike.
No one went missing.
No one soiled their pants because they were scared their children went missing.
No one soiled their pants because they were scared of their angry parents.
I call that a successful outing.
Amen.

A {Not So} Typical Evening at our Home

Living in the country has its perks, even though I complain alot about the work involved.
If you asked my kids, I am sure they would tell you their favourite thing to do while living in the country is roasting "weenies" with their Dad....
...and marshmallows...
...while drinking hot chocolate...
...outside at our homemade fire-pit thingy.
