A Pressing Tribute

Tuesday's Tribute

I am on an ironing strike.

I have been my entire life.

I do not iron.

Never have.

My idea of ironing is throwing the piece of clothing back into the dryer for a few minutes. Or..umm...the Permanent Press cycle. The word "press" is in there for a reason people!

Apparently this is an issue with Mr. Momma.

Apparently he gets teased at work for coming in with wrinkly shirts and messy collars. Here I am thinking I am doing a wonderful job being Mrs. Domestic, washing, drying AND putting his clothes away. I guess not. I mean, if my husband is being teased for his clothing and not being teased for listening to bluegrass music, it must be bad.

Reeeeaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllly bad.

Now, apparently one more task is being added to my list of duties. Let me just say that he never mentioned me doing it for him. He only mentioned me not doing it.

Does the job description for stay at home moms ever get shorter?

I don't mind at all. I mean, I sit on my tanned butt all day eating bon bons so I need more to do. Really. I can iron in between my soap operas and reading my romance novels. I can iron while the children play nicely together for the afternoon. I can iron while Princess plays with her toys and not the dog's eyeballs.

No problem.

I will put my apron on and smile.

Because I am nice like that.

I just hope he doesn't expect me to cook dinner too. A girl can only do so much in a day.

I am dedicating this post to the iron.

And to all you domestically perfect Mommas who iron your husband's clothing. I bow down to you.

You are good people.

Me, not so much.

Go here for my special birthday post to a special gal

I'm not a big fan of the iron either. I mean, I do it, but I don't LIKE it. :)

Ok, the two times I have ironed in my marriage my little kids just sit down and watch the show. They are enthralled. They ask questions like "What is that?" becuase they have no idea what an iron or an ironing board are.

I don't iron either.

And my husband puts his clothing in the permanent press cycle of the dryer or ... irons himself.

I know for SURE that when he travels he irons all of his clothing. I've seen him do it. I figure that if he cares enough he'll iron something himself at home too.

Sometimes I feel a tiny tiny bit guilty. My SIL irons all of my BILs shirts. Isn't that nice? I guess I'm not that nice. :)

Well, you aren't bowing to me, that's for sure! I HATE ironing. As a matter of fact, my husband does more of it than I do (he will iron something for ME, if I ask nicely!) Most of his stuff goes to the cleaners...

What blows me away though is that I have GF who irons her sheets. HER SHEETS! Yeesh!

I hate hate hate the iron - despise it. I buy wrinkle free shirts - pull them straight out of the dryer and call it good! My husband loves loves loves ironed shirts. We don't live near a dry cleaner (we don't live near anything) So Too bad. I love him but good golly - I am terrible at ironing, it never works and I just end up with a wrinkled shirt and a bad mood. I gave up a long time ago. So I bow down to those who iron as well. Great Tribute!

Buy him an iron and ironing board for his birthday, and a $20 gift certicate to a cleaners for them to press some of his shirts...he'll get the loving point....

I don't iron, either. My husband irons his work clothes of a morning. Maybe I should feel bad that I make him do it...
