Guilt

guilt  –noun 1. the fact or state of having committed an offense, crime, violation, or wrong, esp. against moral or penal law; culpability: He admitted his guilt.
2. a feeling of responsibility or remorse for some offense, crime, wrong, etc., whether real or imagined.
3. conduct involving the commission of such crimes, wrongs, etc.: to live a life of guilt.

If there is one thing I have learned in the 7 1/2 years since becoming a parent, it is that guilt is a daily part of life.

Not one day goes by that I don't feel guilty for something I did, something I said, something I thought.

Quite frankly it sucks.

But I am learning that it is a part of motherhood.

And that I have to deal with it.

You know how I deal with it?

By eating chocolate.

But then I feel guilty for eating chocolate and the circle starts all over again.

Eat chocolate.

Feel guilty.

Eat more chocolate.

Feel more guilty.

Go shopping.

Feel guilty.

Eat chocolate.

It is never ending.

Thank you happy pills.

Anyways, today I give you a list of the most recent events that caused me to feel guilty. This list is to make you feel better about your own life and to make me go find more chocolate. Just because I need another reason.

* I yelled at my children because they were yelling at each other

* I told my children to leave me alone

* I bought a salad at Wendy's and then found out it was approximately 900 calories

* I haven't gone to the gym this week

* I did not attend oldest child's school performance because I was too ill

* I did not take the boys to their swimming lessons because I was too ill

* I fed my 17 month old a pizza pocket for lunch

* I let my dog lick urine off of the toilet seat

* I did not close the basement door which allowed my dog to go downstairs, knock over his food bag and eat half of it. At once.

* Dumb dog had diarrhea and vomiting for 2 days after the binge

* I have not cooked a healthy meal all week

* I have not cooked a meal all week

* I told my child that I didn't want to play when all he wanted to do was play a game with his Mommy

* I told my child that I was not going to be seen out in public with him when I saw what he was wearing...and how he did his hair

* I was happy to see my children go away for a sleepover for a night

Shall I go on, or are you feeling better about your life?

I am off to binge on chocolate.......
You can go see MamaKat for other completed assignments because I am sure she never feels guilt...or eats chocolate.

Yes, I do feel better now. Thank you.
PS I don't think those were too bad. You didn't kill anyone!
PPS Chocolate is better than Prozac.

I told myself I couldn't do this prompt, because my list would be oh so long, and my guilty crimes horrendous...yours were totally understandable, and pretty tame.

Time to give yourself a break, and just eat the chocolate without the guilt.

omg, a salad at Wendy's is 900 freakin' calories!
We have all been there. Guilt is really the worst emotion ever. The chocolate totally does help though!

Wow, if you haven't cooked a healthy meal in a week and feel guilty, then I'm in the doghouse for the rest of my life! I don't cook but I try to have healthy options...it's just whether my son will CHOOSE the healthy options.

Sometimes I think all I do is yell. Yell. Yell. Yell.

Dog licking the toilet seat? Sounds like a great way to clean to me...maybe I can teach mine to do that? (kidding. mostly).

I've only been a mom for six months, and already I'm learning that guilt is inevitable. Sigh...

All moms feel guilty. About everything. I feel guilty every darn day. But you know what - if you love 'em enough it seems to balance out in the end. (I hope!)

I went to the doctor today and paid hard earned money for 4 prescriptions and bought $17 worth of chocolate just in case the prescription meds did not make me feel better immediately.
