Once upon a time there was a boy....and a brother...and another brother. They were close in age, got into alot of trouble and caused their parents alot of grief. But that is what boys do.
The three brothers grew up and became very handsome young men.
The oldest brother met his future wife at a young age and after chasing her for a bit, she finally realized that he was the one for her.
They were married.
They were soul mates.
The soul mates had two children.
First, a son, named after his father.
Then a daughter.
They became parents.First, a son, named after his father.
Then a daughter.
Then they became Aunt and Uncle.
My Aunt and Uncle.
This family grew older, moved to another province together and started a new life in a new place.
My Aunt and Uncle became grandparents.
Have I mentioned that my Aunt and Uncle were soul mates????
One day my Aunt noticed a change in my Uncle and made a doctor appointment.
They thought he had had a mild stroke and scheduled more tests.
Those tests showed a brain tumour.
More tests showed lung cancer.
More tests showed that he didn't have much time left. 3-6 months.....maybe longer if the treatments helped.
My Uncle was 60.
These tests were completed in March 2010.
We went to see My Uncle last month.
He was feeling ok.
We had dinners together.
Talked.
Visited.
Took pictures.
And then said goodbye hoping to see him again this summer.
May 11, 2010, My Uncle passed away.
He didn't make it to his 61st birthday.
He left his soul mate.
His children.
His grandchildren.
His brother.
His nieces, nephews and everyone else who loved him dearly.
But we know he didn't really leave us.
Heaven just needed another Angel.
We love you Uncle.
You will be missed.

What a sweet and poignant post!
This brought tears to my eyes. It's always hard losing a loved one. Death is just another door we must walk through...it's just the beginning...not the end.
What a beautiful tribute to your uncle, whom you clearly loved deeply.
My sincerest sympathies for your loss.
Praying for your family, esp his wife. His soulmate.

You and your family are in my thoughts today. I lost my Dad to cancer 8 years ago and it sucked... Know that someone is feeling the pain of your loss and sending you a hug and many prayers.
My dad passed away on March 26 of this year. Maybe your uncle and my dad have met each other and they have become the best of friends. Thinking about you. Love ya, Kristina
