Bienvenue! {That is "Welcome" in French}

It is so friggin hot here people.
Yes, believe it or not, Canada gets warm hot weather and this week is about all I can handle for the summer when we don't own a swimming pool.
So, we used our imaginations.

Yeah, it still sucked.
We need a pool.
We need to live somewhere with waterfront property.
We need to move south where the air isn't so humid.
We need to win the lottery.
We need to...ummm....buy lottery tickets so we can win.

Anyways, on a totally unrelated topic, today I am showing you my dining room which isn't really a dining room because it is kinda in my kitchen, not separated by any walls.

Make sense?

Didn't think so.

When we re-did the house, we took down a wall and opened the kitchen up so it was one big, huge room with high ceilings. We did not want a separate dining room because it would rarely get used and just collect junk.

So this is what we ended up with.

Hubby picked out the furniture, can you tell?
Dark, manly, Hugh-Hefner-like.
I put up a good fight, but in the end he won and ended up getting his big, huge table that we cant touch because God forbid it might get a scratch!!!
Love you honey.

Hubby also picked out the light fixtures.
I like them....now.

My concerns with this "area" are wall space.
There is none.
And this window.
This huge, bare window that has no coverings at all.
We live on a country road that doesn't get many cars or walkers, but it is still bare and gets really sunny in the late afternoon.
Help...please and thank you.

Not much else to say.
It is a simple, plain area with an ugly centerpiece and no window coverings or photographs on the wall, but it does the job.
When we have people over, there is somewhere to sit....and I don't have to walk very far to get stuff from the kitchen.

There is wall space over there but it is high and I am lazy.
Can someone make it look pretty?

We just have to be careful that we don't scratch hubby's precious table.
*ahem*
Do you have a separate dining room?
Does it get used or does it collect junk?

"We need to move south where the air isn't so humid." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

The air is so thick down here you could cut it with a knife. Obviously, you are talking about a different "south" than the one I know.

Oh, and we do have a separate kitchen and dining table. Neither really gets used unless there is company (we eat at the bar) and they are both pretty much clutter catchers.

As for your windows - what about plantation blinds? Or shutters? Not original, I know, but it would keep the sun out.

We've been suffering with extreme heat here, too. I'm over it. :)

We do have a separate dining room and unfortunately at this moment, it does collect junk and doesn't get used as a dining room. I really need to rectify that. :)

Good luck staying cool, it has been unusually hot here as well. Wish we had a pool like my Nana and Papa had when I was growing up. We have a living room/dining room that connect in our very small house. Our one table still seems to collect a lot of "stuff" since it is also my work space.

Our Kitchen & Dining area has a "bar" separating it!

Your little one reminds me of my monkey... she would jump in the dog's water bucket :)

The table totally matches with the tile. I like the table. And the light fixtures. Our dining room area is also open like yours and part of a kitchen and family room. Honestly, I like it. The area is quite large and it is great for having parties. If we had a dining room that was separate it would just collect junk too most of the time.

We joke about winning the lottery but we've never bought a ticket! I wouldn't mind a beach house though! :)

Holy cow- my hubby brought this horrendous chair with an additional foot rest into our house (his mother bought it for him). It was a bummer when my son broke the thing. Total bummer.

Head on over to Walmart and get a kiddy pool :)

Have a great weekend!

Joining in Kelly's dining room tour... I like your dining room, especially the windows! Our dining room is also a conservatory/play room/library/craft room and utility room! UK houses aren't that big:)

I'm stopping by via Kelly's Korner.
You and your husband have created a wonderful room to entertain and enjoy delicious meals.
I love the the furniture and fixtures. Great job!

Our dining room is not really a separate room but just more to the side. I try to keep it as tidy as possible but things just tend to accumulate!

In our old house, we turned the dining room into my office/craft room. In the new house, we lost the dining room - but we gained a fourth bedroom, so it's okay. Now my craft stuff is in our bedroom and my office is in oldest daughter's room. Don't love that, but it's only for nine months... I can deal. Enough chatter!

We just have a kitchen eating area. I love big open spaces though!

We have an open layout, so our dining area is also in our living room and in our kitchen, I hate it and wished everything was separate. lol

I love your house and decor though, so gorgeous!!

I live in Ontario too (just moved back after five years in Alberta) and the heat and humidity have been killing me. And changing my personality too. Blargh :(

Anyways, we do have a separate dining room (which also houses my office and the kids' play space) but it is the only eating area in our house so it can't get too cluttered!
