The Future Wayne Gretzky

Canadians love poutine.
Canada's national animal is the beaver.
Does anyone else laugh every time you say the word beaver?
Beaver.
BAHAHAHAHAHA.
Canadians love hockey.

When my boys were little and not able to voice their own opinions, I signed them up for skating lessons...then hockey, because it is just what every little Canadian boy should do.
Says me.
Oldest child played for a few years.
Played=waved to the people watching, chatted with fellow players and occasionally skated the length of the rink. He wasn't into it.
Middle child screamed and tantrummed throughout every single skating lesson.
It was fun.

So, I reluctantly gave up my wish of becoming a hockey mom and swore I would allow my children to choose their sports.
Baseball.
Karate.
Soccer.
Swimming.
Basketball.

And finally middle child decided to try out ball hockey.
HALLELUJAH AMEN!!!!

Back to the smelly arena.
Back to the uncomfortable seats.
And I have never been happier.

I didn't force him to do it.
He loves playing and is actually pretty damn good if I do say so myself.

I now know that I am meant to be a hockey mom.
I love watching my kids play.
I love watching them have fun.
I love the smell of smelly arenas.
I love cheering like one of those parents that drive everyone crazy.
I love telling my child to "GET TO THE NET" and "SHOOT"....and "GET OPEN" like I totally know what the hell I am talking about.

I have never played hockey in my life.
Except one year of floor hockey and I sucked big time.
But whatever.

Can someone please convince him to play ice hockey now????????

I never thought I'd be a football mom - but there I was on the sidelines screaming "take him DOWN!"

I'm sure that once he has totally mastered this sport he will want to take it to the next level. And there you will be, sitting on the sidelines yelling "Go to the NET!"

And, errr, what is poutine? Do I even want to know?

It's always fun when the kids find a sport they like. Maybe he'll swtich over to ice-hocky when he gets older. And if not it's still fun to watch him doing something he loves! That's my favorite thing as a parent!

As Gigi asked, what is poutine?!

Look at both your boys in sports! Weren't you just concerned about them not doing anything?! Now you'll be running every which way trying to keep up. :)
