Right this second I am avoiding all parental responsibilities because I need quiet.

Word.
That means "Hi" in gangsta talk just in case you aren't up on all of the new gangsta lingo.
You're welcome.
I am here to help.

So, I was all excited to sit down and actually write a blog post about parenting stuff, summer holiday stuff, unicorns and rainbows, but, to be honest, I am sick of my children and I am hiding from them as I quietly type this in my bed.

I love the brats, but being with them 24/7 wears thin on this gal. I wish I could tell you that I love listening to them argue every 2 minutes over a stick that looks like a gun or look forward to answering Princess' questions every 30 seconds.

"Mom, why do people have hands?"
"Mom, why do people have backs and tummy's?"
"Mom, is Studley in doggie heaven and Papa in Papa heaven?"
"Mom, is this song a boy singer or girl singer?"
"Mom, can I have a snack?"
"...a drink?"

You get the gist.

So, instead I will give you photos of a random barn that I pass many times a year as I travel to visit my wonderful, beautiful, lovely, perfect Grandma.

This old, rickety barn sits in the middle of nowhere without another building in sight. I would love to know the history that goes with it, but there is no one to ask.
Not that I would have the guts to knock on their door and ask, but its a good thought, right?

It is surrounded by a rather large field of growing corn, so there is no way I would ever get up close to it, because I am terrified of walking through a corn field and never coming out.
{does the movie "Children of the Corn" ring a bell?}

So, instead I just stood at the side of the road like a tourist and clicked away imagining what kind of critters call it home now.
Yes, I really thought that.  Wouldnt you?

After I put away my telephoto lens thanking the Lord above that nothing jumped out of the cornfield at me, I drove some more, and found about 6 more barns that I want to capture.
And a cemetery.
And old stone buildings.
And fields full of huge round bales of hay.
Gosh darn, this stuff gets me excited.

Its amazing what you can find when you are actually enjoying the scenery around you.
Or, maybe I am just an old fart.

Don't say a word.

i think that finding views to take pics of does not mean you are an "old fart" ... i think you just have an eye that wishes to capture a view that is great to you & you wish to share with others. which is totally cool & i love that. i think you found a real keeper. such a cool barn. such character. (:

It looks like it's still standing fairly straight but with all the missing wood I'm wondering what's even holding her up! A great find. I live in an area where there's lot of critters that go slink in the night so I understand completely!

Never thought of cornfields as scary...but then I didn't see the movie.

Motherhood isn't all sunshine and roses and people who say it is leave some pretty high expectations for everyone else...thanks for you honesty...those bajiliion questions can certainly get tiresome...it doesn't change how much you love your kiddos and you can certainly tell that from your blog. :D Enjoy your quiet and P.S adore that barn!!!!

I never saw that movie, and I grew up on a farm, so I like cornfields. :)

Great old barn in the middle of the corn field. Corn fields don't scare me but I don't go walking in them.

Love the barn and scene! Having raised five kids I totally understand wanting to hide out in your room sometimes. It's a mom's version of R&R.

Every time we drive up there I wish I brought my camera so I could snap some shots of the old barns. However - these shots are gorgeous.

oh no, i love that stuff too! and every time i see an old abandoned barn i think there must be snakes living inside, tons of snakes, hanging from the ceiling even so i would be scared to even walk inside..same with cornfields, they must be filled snakes!

Great barn! I love that it's right in the middle of a sea of corn.

You think like I do, but you got great shots. It's fun to imagine all those things, even Children of the corn.

A great old barn like that is exciting for me, too... I'd love to get inside & explore, but I don't have the nerve to trespass or to take the chance of being eaten alive by ticks & chiggers! Then exploration was more worth it in my younger days, but not anymore! heheheee!

She's definitely a beauty & thanks so much for joining... a mom needs time away now & then, nothin wrong w/ that! Take care =)

I often wonder what kinds of animals are living in an abandoned barn too.

Looks like you had fun editing these photos. Good Job!

I'm glad I'm not the only mom who finds this 24/7 kid stuff wearing!!
