With hubby working insane hours, the unpaid duty of bringing the beasts in for the afternoon has been put on me.
OK. I have been doing this duty forever, but it feels like more of a job now that the horses are testing my animal-loving patience.
Why do we bring them in for the afternoon, you ask?
Because the vet told us they were fat so we are trying to cut back on their grass intake because apparently eating grass 24/7 makes you fat.
Who would have thunk it?
This is a photo of Duke not listening to me....with grass in his mouth.
Jerk.
Blackie the barn cat who I thought would never get knocked up, got herself knocked up and delivered 5 black babies this week.
I cant say I am surprised, because she is really pretty, but I am still sad about this.
Sad that we now have 9 cats on our property.
Sad that the baby-daddy has never been seen around here.
Sad that my barn cats who were supposed to be male, are both females.
Sad that I wasn't the person to pick up our two male barn cat kittens last year, because I can tell the difference between a male and female kitty. The idiots we got them from, obviously didn't. And hubby just took their word.
Pfft.
Middle child took this picture.
I am quite impressed with the composition, aren't you?
Blackie....again.....
...and again.
I had to include this photo because it was taken during the 2.5 seconds these two actually got along and were not fighting this whole week.

I had no idea horses has weight "issues"!
I think Duke looks perfect -- but I've never owned horses.
Blackie is a gorgeous cat -- maybe you could ugly her up a bit so she's not so desirable to the toms? :)
Lovely group of pics!
Blackie is beautiful and has a wonderfully imperious stare.
Great photography ~ and glad that you have all those wonderful 'mice catchers' ~ adorable daughter and son ~ wishing you a Happy Weekend ~ (A Creative Harbor)
I love that the horse has grass in his mouth in the photo - ha ha ha!
That is a gorgeous cat. That's why she got knocked up.
And yes, middle child's photo is GREAT!!!
You cracked me up about sexing kittens and your husband just taking someone else's word for it...
BeeeUTeeFul animals! =)
What beautiful animals. Love the deep black color of each. We seem to have been adopted by a black cat. He is a pretty cat, just not a people person. Your cat looks so slick and shiny, a healthy and happy cat!
Both your horse and your cat are a beautiful colour!
Pretty animals and sorry about the unexpected crop of kitties-
She is a beautiful cat. I hope you can find good homes for all the little kitties.
Maybe Blackie is a boy and a girl and impregnated herself! Just a thought.
Glad you caught those 2.5 seconds of siblings getting along. Show them this when they say they hate each other.
I love the horse shiny ass :)
cool pics ;)
Duke is a magnificent creature.
Love the name of your blog. I saw it and thought, must have kids (two legged or otherwise!).
Sounds like a challenging week. Black is a dominant color in animals, so daddy cat might not be black. I love the first horse shot!
You have lovely kids and very beautiful animals. I would love to help someone with horses if I had a chance. Sadly, I live in a huge city... but I, too, have a lovely child - and a much loved dog.
My week was crazy. Working, doing house chores and trying to make my shop successful is not easy. Hope to get used to it...
