Jersey

He is healthy.
Sometimes I wish he could be a tad lazy.
DSC_0651
He prefers the outdoors.
Mostly because he can chase the cats.
DSC_0632
He has sharp teeth.
We now owe my mother a new coat.
DSC_0631
He has solid poop.
Adios, coccidia.
DSC_0648
He enjoys sitting beside Studley's burial spot.
So I let him.
DSC_0647
He can finally go up and down the stairs.
Hallelujah.
DSC_0650
He can also ring a bell when he wants outside.
Except he does it every 23 seconds.
DSC_0649
He wants to be BFFs with Ike the horse.
Ike wants to step on him.
DSC_0652
He barks at the vacuum.
I laugh when I should be teaching him not to do it.
But it is just so funny.
DSC_0630

We love him.
And want 5 more just like him.

Found!

Guys, I found them!
DSC_0627
DSC_0604
DSC_0605
After 6 weeks, the hidden kittens have appeared.
DSC_0621
They have been hiding away in the loft/roof of our barn, tucked down in the soffit.
I don't know what a soffit is, but that's what hubby called it so I am taking his word.
Whatever.
DSC_0611
I lured them out with the smell of gross, disgusting, fishy-smelling canned food....
...and my kitty cat sounds.
DSC_0618
I am totally positive it was my kitty sounds that convinced them to appear from the depths of wherever they were, and not the food.
DSC_0622
As you can see, I think they hated the food.
DSC_0623
A few things I should mention
Blackie, their mommy has been missing for many days.
I have only seen three of the five kittens.
They are extremely mean and nasty to humans.
Hubby wants me to keep them mean and nasty so they don't invade our home with the other little buggers.
I want them to be nice so we can give them away to little trick or treaters.
I mean, seriously....
kids would love to be handed a kitten instead of candy, right?

Jersey. An Update.

I have learned a few things over the last week.
Firstly, I would like to become a veterinarian.
Not only because they get to work with cute animals every day, but also because they get to charge you a ton of money to save your beloved pet baby.

Secondly, I have learned that y'all love me.
You really love me.....
....and Jersey the dog.

I cant tell you how many people have been asking how he is doing after his near death experience last week.

Consider this post your Jersey the Dog update.
You're welcome.
DSC_0504
Jersey is alive and well. Too well actually.
What we thought was a fairly calm, cool and collected puppy was actually a sick puppy. Once he felt better, all hell broke loose and he is now trouble!
DSC_0505
He chews my toes. Bites at my pant leg. Eats anything he finds on the floor.
He chases the cats. Barks at falling leaves. And enjoys putting his paws in his water bowl.
DSC_0507
He is eating!
Amen Hallelujah!!!!!!!
I am sure he has put on 5 pounds in the last few days.
DSC_0511
His poop soup has now turned into normal poop which makes me want to clap every time he has a movement.
Movement=poop.
DSC_0506
He loves to play with flat balls because he can sink his teeth into them and run.
When he runs, he thinks it is funny to run into the horse pasture and not listen when I call him.
It`s not so funny when Ike the horse comes close though.
I almost had poop soup myself while trying to stop Ike from chasing the little creature at his feet.
DSC_0513
So far his short three weeks at our home have been quite the soap opera.
First, coccidia
Then almost trampled by 2000 pound horse.
I swear my life needs to be videotaped.

Thank you for all of your concerns.
I did notice that no one offered to pay our vet bill though.

It`s OK.
I understand.
You're forgiven.
*smooches*

He is Here!

His name is Jersey.
DSC_0385
He was born August 1, 2012.
And came to his life home on September 29, 2012.
DSC_0393
We are smitten.
And I think he is pretty happy too.
DSC_0378
I was sure I could never love a dog as much as my dear Barron {aka Studley}, but this little guy has quickly taken hold of my heart and squeezed.
DSC_0387
Squeezed so tight, that I am thinking he just might be what I need to smile again.
DSC_0377
Maybe.
DSC_0395
Once he is potty trained.
DSC_0397
Crap I have learned in the last few days
*No more babies!  I hate potty training.
*No more babies.  I like my sleep.
*I need 5 more just like him.

Sunday Best. On a Saturday.

Ike and Duke have been testing my patience this week.
With hubby working insane hours, the unpaid duty of bringing the beasts in for the afternoon has been put on me.
OK. I have been doing this duty forever, but it feels like more of a job now that the horses are testing my animal-loving patience.
Why do we bring them in for the afternoon, you ask?
Because the vet told us they were fat so we are trying to cut back on their grass intake because apparently eating grass 24/7 makes you fat.
Who would have thunk it?
This is a photo of Duke not listening to me....with grass in his mouth.
Jerk.

Blackie the barn cat who I thought would never get knocked up, got herself knocked up and delivered 5 black babies this week.
I cant say I am surprised, because she is really pretty, but I am still sad about this.
Sad that we now have 9 cats on our property.
Sad that the baby-daddy has never been seen around here.
Sad that my barn cats who were supposed to be male, are both females.
Sad that I wasn't the person to pick up our two male barn cat kittens last year, because I can tell the difference between a male and female kitty.  The idiots we got them from, obviously didn't.  And hubby just took their word.
Pfft.
DSC_0259
Middle child took this picture.
I am quite impressed with the composition, aren't you?
DSC_0330
Blackie....again.....
Can we discuss cat colours?
All 5 of her babies are solid black.
No tabby
No colouring.
No markings.
Does this mean the baby daddy is all black too?
DSC_0261
...and again.
Dear Blackie.
Please stay away from the boys until we get you fixed.
Thanks muchly.
DSC_0260
I had to include this photo because it was taken during the 2.5 seconds these two actually got along and were not fighting this whole week.
DSC_0269
And how was your week?

Sharing

DSC_0245
Item #1
Oldest child loves hats.
He also insists on acting like an old man while wearing one.
DSC_0246DSC_0247
Item #2
I am a gardening failure this year.
My excuses-too hot, too dry and I hate weeding.
I deeply regret this behaviour and promise to do better next year.
Amen.
DSC_0249
Item #3
Smokey the cat still nurses her 3+ month old kittens.
Is this weird?
DSC_0258
Item #4
There is a freshly painted horse sleigh here.
We just need seats and snow.
And hubby needs a Santa suit.
DSC_0257
Item #5
Middle child yells at me every time I take his picture without asking first.
I just say "Sorry. I will ask next time." and then we are all good.
But I never ask.
Because if I do, he gives me smiles like this.

DSC_0263
Item #6
Hubby washed all of his finds from my Grandparents rickety shed.
Everything now sits in our brand new garage awaiting a place in the barn that he plans on renovating partly into a man cave/museum.
DSC_0265
Item #7
Hubby purchased a barely used hole-free pond liner.
Why?
Because he wants ducks.
Hold me.
Ducks=coyote food=stressed out Momma
DSC_0262
Item #8
The hat-wearer loves his new bike.
{he put his helmet on immediately after I snapped this}
DSC_0256
Item #9
Ike and Duke love me more than anyone else in the world.
DSC_0260DSC_0251
Item #10
Blackie the barn cat is pregnant.
I am so upset about this, I cant even talk about it.
DSC_0267
Item #11
The corn across the street is over my head now.
I am always fascinated by how tall it gets.
And how scary it would be to get lost in a field full of corn.
Smokey likes to find mice over there.
And she always finds her way back.
Good thing, because I wouldn't go looking for her........
DSC_0252
Item #12
Princess still wears her rubber boots on the wrong feet.
I will never get tired of this.
Ever.
