Creepy Crawlers

Being a mom to two very "boyish" boys has taught me alot.

I need to have a powerful washing machine.
I need to know many facts about tractors and any large machines.
I need to invest in Hanes because we go through so many pairs of socks.
Always have ketchup in the house.
And maple syrup.
Purchase a pair of rubber boots.

I have also had to get over my fear of creepy crawlies.

I do not enjoy creepy crawlies.

Nope. Not one bit.

But my boys do.

Worms.
Caterpillars.
Frogs.

We have had one of each for a pet recently.

They brought them in my home. *gasp*

I am still recuperating.....and cleaning.

Do your kids enjoy creepy crawlies?
Do they bring them home as pets?
Do you allow it?

Thankfully my son is only 1, but believe me when he is older, there will be some rules about icky bugs and other things (toads, frogs, lizards) coming home.

I have 3 teen sons. As young boys they loved watching bugs, but never wanted to keep them or bring them home.

I have three boys also and I kind of hate that they are teaching their little sister to bring me "things"!! They all think it's funny how Mom dislikes bugs, etc:) Although, they are great when I need someone to protect me! They will come running & get any intruders for me. They have killed spiders, snakes, etc--Even taken them outside in jars for me--I love my boys!!!

2 girls...so not too many creepy crawlies. Yikes! We did acquire the 6th grade guinea pig after the school year was up which I was NOT happy about! But, I ended up loving that little thing more than anyone. haha Go figure.

But...frogs? No way!

TGIF!

Actually, I do like caterpillars. I think they are pretty cool. And I'm OK with worms as long as they are in the dirt.

Spiders are kind of creepy, they belong OUTSIDE.

Although one time my daughter had a bug terrarium and she caught a spider and she got to keep that for a week or so. We fed it flies. It was mildly interesting. And she kept a grasshopper.

Both of my boys are still really young. My oldest (almost 6) is not into creepy crawlers. I have a feeling my little guy (2) is going to be fascinated since he will bend over and watch bugs outside.

My 10 month old is a little young for that yet, but I don't think she'll like bugs (or maybe I'm just hoping she won't)

No, no, and NO!

Although, we have hatched butterflies for the past 2 springs and they boys have loved it!

NO and if they did NO WAY. I have a container I picked up for lightening bugs but anything else no way

My daughter likes them, but she is not too into it yet, so not something I have dealt with very much. Yet.

My kids are fascinated by them because they are learning, but they don't want to touch them at all. As a matter a fact the boy runs away screaming...and is teaching the girl to do that.

I would allow them to learn and explore even if I don't like them though.

I had a little girl so no! Thank God! However, I have a 20 month old grandson and another on the way. So I'm hoping no creepy crawlies will be of any interest. lol

No to creepy crawlies! Although when I was a child they didn't bother me a bit. My cousin and I used to catch black widows (didn't realize the danger and no one could tell us anything) Now I shudder at the thought!

I have two girls. They do not like creepy crawly things. In fact, my older daughter won't even get in the shower if there's a bug in it. She yells for mom every single time.

I can't handle creepy crawlers either! Eeeewww!

I don't have kids right now so I don't have that issue.

yet.

This post makes me laugh. I have an 8 yo girl and a 6 yo boy. My girl is the dirty, bug and animal lovin tomboy. My boy however, is a neat freak and hates to get dirty. My girl had a snail in her room for days before I knew it. It wassnt a big deal after I found out that it had been there. We eventually lost it. I havent seen it since LOL.
