We have corn on the cob.
{Too many} tomatoes.
Green peppers.
Banana peppers.
Squash.
Carrots.
Cucs.
Beans.
And gourds.
Because planting squash and pumpkins in the same garden produces lots and lots of gourds.
Did you know that?
Consider that your educational lesson of the day.
We didn't know that. Until we planted them and they overtook our garden to the point of Momma being afraid to walk through it out of fear of finding wildlife at her feet.
Eek.
So I send my kids instead. Because that is what kids are for, right?
Nothing against gourds, but....umm....what is their purpose?
I mean other than using them for fall decorating, they seem like they are just the forgotten food.
I feel so bad cooking up all of our other treasures while I watch my gourds sitting in a basket.
Doing nothing.
Just decorating my counter.
Poor things.
Just wait until my kids paint faces on them in a month or so.
Then my poor gourds will be the ugly, fat kid with braces and glasses sitting in the corner of the room.
Or something like that.

Ok, call me stupid, but how do you tell a gourd from a squash...I thought I had a garden FULL of squash, but now I'm wondering...
Wow, all that looks absolutely scrumptious.

Send me some tomatoes!!!
Gourds are freaky. I like 'em. But they're freaky.
How beautiful! I'm no cook but seems I've heard you can make soups with gourds.....

you must have one HUGE garden! My corn was like midget corn! it was too funny!
we're comin' to visit! Yeppers, we'll help you get rid of some cucumbers & tomatoes & corn & onions & peppers & GOURDS! See you in late August...soon!
Ps: Still waiting on that special COD parcel!
Gosh ... we got 1.5 cucumbers, and we have pumpkin vines coming out of our asses but NOT A SINGLE PUMPKING APPEARING YET! (But the vines are almost scary ... they are heading to the swing set like they want to climb up the ladder.)
And ghourds don't seem to have a point.
you should open a farm stand!
I don't really get gourds either. I can never resist the cuteness, come fall, when I see them at farm stands and such, so I always end up with a hefty collection that just...sits there. And then I ask myself, "Why did I buy all these damn gourds?"
I am seriously going to plant a garden next year! I tried planting some beans and cucumbers this year, and I ended up getting some, so it worked, but I want to set up something to get more! These look YUMMY!
