My kitchen!!

OHMYGOODNESSOHMYGOODNESS!
It's my favourite time of the week!
The time when I get to stalk every one's kitchens and grab some ideas for my own home.
Nothing makes me happier than finding inspiration.

As I said last week, my style is simple and...ummm...boring.
I am not great at coming up with ideas in my mind but if I see something I like, I go with it.
Sometimes.
Or I just think about it.
Whatever.

I will tell you a secret.
Hubby designed our kitchen.
He had it all pictured before anything was built and I just went along with it because I knew he had good taste. I was pregnant at the time and only cared about eating bon bons and sleeping, so trusted his choices.
I was obviously not one with a clear mind.
I do not recommend having a house built while pregnant and parenting two little brats.
I still wonder why I am not doped up on high dosages of happy pills after that time of my life.
Oh wait.....I am!
Anyways................

Our kitchen is my favourite room in the house.
kitchen
I spend 90% of my time in it. Not because I want to, but because I have three children who feel the need to eat every once in awhile.
3 children=big mess
Big mess=Momma cleaning multiple times a day.
I love my kitchen, but there are a few things I wish we considered.
The dark cabinetry shows every little sticky crumb and milk splatter.
But one day my kids will grow up and I will miss it all.....I think.

The stainless steel appliances are my enemy.
The fingerprints, smudges and pretty much any noticeable spot will show up in the shine and drive you crazy every day of your life.
Fun times.

And the dark tile floor shows every single teeny, tiny crumb, which means I vacuum it at least twice a day.
Our vacuum has actually become part of our home decor because I refuse to put it away after every use.  Why, you ask?
Because it will be coming back out in just a few hours.
*sniff*

Truthfully, I love so much more than I hate, so I just suck it up and deal with all of the mess for now.
I love my island.
DSC_0937
I would love it even more if my island had palm trees, an ocean, white sand, cabana boys and girly drinks with much alcohol, but this island will do for now.

It provides me with a second sink that I never thought I would use, but now know I could not live without it.
And the cultured stone is so lovely that I would like it in every room of my house please and thank you.
DSC_0926
I love my desk/TV area.
Another "thing" I thought I would not use, but now is the TV I watch the most because the brats have taken over the others.
Hmph.
Please tell your husband that if you have a television in your kitchen, you will cook for him more.
The next day, I am sure he will go right out and get you one.
You're welcome.

I love the little shelves beside my sink so I can display things I love.
Like photos of my Great Grandmother's handwritten recipes.
Her name was Ruby.
The recipe name is "Ruby's cake"
I enjoy the name Ruby alot, don't you?
DSC_0930
I love my window above the sink.
This is where I have my little herb planter and a place where I can display my kid's artwork. Orrrrrrrrr, I can just look outside and watch Ike and Duke the horses.
DSC_0929
I love my little fridge nestled in my island, aka "The place that holds pop/beer/liquor/juice boxes".
DSC_0928
And the view.
Our deck is right outside the kitchen doors which makes it perfect for barbecue-ing and entertaining.
Or just sitting outside reading 50 Shades of Grey.

So, there you have it.
My kitchen.

Please tell me what you love or hate.
I can take it.
Just don't tell me to change the cabinetry or flooring unless you are willing to give me the money.
Do you love your kitchen?

I like the layout of your kitchen, but I do agree that it is too dark! I hate my kitchen, but then, it isn't really mine as we rent. LOL! But I still love getting ideas from people who actually OWN! One day that will be me....! I love the idea of an extra sink and that little fridge a drinks always take up so much room int he big fridge! And that tv cubby is awesome! Kudos to your hubby for that one!

I love it! I feel your pain with the dark cabinets/floors....but I love the way they look so I also suck it up.

I love your kitchen. I love the brick backsplash and island. The flooring is beautiful. I would trade you kitchens in a heartbeat. :)

Love it!!! Gorgeous! But, like you said, it isn't meant to have kids mucking it up!

I should be so lucky to have a kitchen like yours, and I love to cook. My kitchen is what I guess you would call a walk in kitchen. :( So sad. Have a great weekend.

Ooh very nice kitchen!

I think my kitchen is good. Of course I want to change it up a bit but it might not be possible.

Favorite spot in the house is the living room. I spend most time there.

Aloha.

First, your kitchen is aaah-MAY-zing! Simply gorgeous! My kithen is also my favorite room. When we bought our little townhouse in 1998, we were impressed with how big it was (comparitively, of course). There's enough room for people to hang out in the kitchen and socialize while we cook. Although it seems SO small now that we have 7 people instead of 3 in our family, it still functions well (it's just a whole lot messier now!).

I LOVE your kitchen! It looks like it belongs in a Better Homes and Garden magazine. Simply beautiful.

I LOVE your framed recipe from your Great Grandma Ruby. That is super awesome!

I also love your mini fridge for juice etc. Great idea!

Your kitchen is a little dark for me -- I love my light. But it is beautiful.

My favourite room in my house is either my kitchen or our dining room -- I can't decide.

I love your kitchen....when can I move in? I´d even clean up after the little brats for you when they leave their crumbs all over your beautiful floors and counter space...then I could go outside and run the horses for you
and come back in and vacum some more.
I must admit I love my kitchen too...
kitchens are very important and your kitchen is a beauty.

Wow! such a comfy, big and beautiful kitchen you got! Just love it. And the pc/tv shelf is really cute. This is just a perfect kitchen. No one will love any other room more than this!
