A Po-etter to Lance Armstrong

One of MamaKat's prompts this week was to write an open letter to men. This is mine. To one man.
I like to call it a po-etter.
Half poem
Half letter

What were you thinking?
Did you think it was right?
To lie to the world
and tell us everything was alright.

Did you think you could go on lying
Telling them they were wrong
That you never did illegal drugs
And competing was where you belong

The medals you won
The competitors you beat
The endorsements and sponsors
And friends of the elite

It was all just a show
Because of your selfish deeds
And many were hurt
Their forgiveness you will need

Despite your horrible actions
over many, many years
I have one thing to say
so I have to change gears

The money you raised
raising millions for cancer
is the one good outcome
and the only good answer

To the question we will ask
in the many years ahead
What did Lance Armstrong accomplish?
Aside from the lies that he said

A Poem.

Messy, my 9 year old boy.
Has discovered a new useful toy.

The telephone is his new found hobby
And while chatting, he is awfully snotty.

To me, his mom.
Not to his friends on the phone.
Because they are girls
And he places them high up on a throne.

They make him giggle.
He makes them squeal.
He acts so polite to them.
To me its unreal.

I have dreaded this for years.
Seeing my baby grow up.
I knew the time would come
When love from mom wouldn't be enough

Now he needs friends that are girls
To occupy his free time
Talking about school, Webkinz and horses
Dropping his own Mother like a dime.

I must not let it bother me
Because at times when he is alone
And the girls are nowhere to be found
I will always put him high up on the throne.

My baby he will always be
For as long as he lives
Even when he pushes me away
My heart and soul is his

Dr. Seuss..... call me and we can write a book together!

Oh Studley, you stud of a dog.
I love you, you big ol' lump on a log.
I don't care that you snore, and that you fart
I don't even care that you aren't really that smart.

You were my first baby
And always will be
But maybe...just maybe
on this one thing we could agree

I don't enjoy watching you thrust your arthritic hipbones
At younger, more attractive dog's private zones.
It is gross and embarrassing and downright rude
Not to mention extremely crude.

So I ask you this my dear friend
Stay away from other dogs and their rear ends.
Chew on a bone or go for a swim
Run, walk.  You might even become trim.

Live out your life with a bit of class.
Instead of spending your days looking for some a#%
I love you Studley, I really do
So stop it right now
Please and thank you

Love,

To My Son
© Amy R. Campbell
Oh how the years go by,
Oh how time can certainly fly.
From once just a thought in far away dreams,
now into my arms and in my eyes gleam
the presence of you.
Your laughter and smiles
which go on for miles,
warms my heart and soul.
You're growing up so fast,
as I wish each moment with you to last forever.
My little boy will someday be a man
and right by your side I will forever stand.
I will pick up the pieces when you fall,
I will hold your hand and help you stand tall.
And when the day comes when you are on your own,
never feel that you are alone.
No matter how near or far apart
I am always right there in your heart.
Always remember whatever you go through
that no matter what, I will always love you.

Happy 6th Birthday Rowdy!

Looking for the perfect costume is not an easy job.

So MamaKat has some Halloween prompts this week and if you follow all of the rules, you could win a Flip Camera. Since I just purchased a video camera and haven't followed ALL of the rules, I am probably out of the running. But that's ok. I still love her dearly.

Here is my poem to my spooky, scary kid that caused me great stress recently.....well, who am I kidding? He causes me great stress every single day.

But anyways.

We searched and searched and searched some more
For the perfect costume full of gore
You want to be the scariest boy
Wearing the scariest costume and holding the scariest toy

You said no to a vampire
And no to a ghost
No to a werewolf
You said no to most

"I want to be scary and say "boo" to my friends"
But Mommy thought the search would never end
She whined and complained and pouted and frowned
With chocolate and candy her sorrows she drowned

Until finally they looked one more time
And spotted the costume right next to goo and slime
You shrieked and yelled "That is the one"
"I want it. I want it. I want it please Mom."

So I scooped it up fast and smiled from cheek to cheek
At last we had our "treasure" so to speak
My son will be the scariest, spookiest kid in town
And I will be the happiest Mommy around!

Mushy Mommy Stuff

I am spending the day with my favourite people in the world and enjoying my Mother's Day.

I hope you feel as blessed as I do.

Before I Was A Mom

Before I was a Mom
I made and ate hot meals.
I had unstained clothing.
I had quiet conversations on the phone.

Before I was a Mom,
I slept as late as I wanted
And never got worried about how late I got into bed.
I brushed my hair and teeth every day.

Before I was a Mom
I cleaned my house each day.
I never tripped over toys or forgot words of lullabies.

Before I was a Mom
I didn't worry whether my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom
I had never been puked on
Pooped on
Spit on
Chewed on
Peed on
Or pinched by tiny fingers

Before I was a Mom I had complete control of:
My thoughts
My body
And my mind.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom
I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love so much.
