Discombobulated

On Mothers Day we had an impromptu photo session outside of my Grandma's house that I love so much.

Brother, Mom and Me

The smell.
The decor that has filled it since I was little.
The cookies in the cupboard.
The celebrations.
The family.

Excuse me for being mushy about family.....again.

Family is on my mind alot lately.
DSC_0582
Because I am missing the man who had a part in creating my life.
But when I look at these pictures, I think of a few things.
DSC_0578
I remind myself that my family isn't broken.
We will only get stronger.
And that I should totally get rid of these "Everyone focus on my crotch jeans".
DSC_0584
Seriously, why didn't anyone point out the lines totally pointing at my womanly parts???
I am so discombobulated.

Dear Mom.
Since when did you get so short?
Dear Children
Since when did you get so tall?
Dear Me
Throw out your jeans and start acting like a 37 year old!!
Find out if discombobulated is a real word.
If it is, use it in every sentence because it is fun to say.
Love Me

Have you ever had a wardrobe malfunction?
Have you ever thought you looked cool only to find out later that you are totally a dork?
Please say yes.

Four Generations

OK, I confess...
I did not actually take this picture because I am in it.
And I don't know how to set up a camera timer.
Whatever.

But, by far, this is my favourite photo of the week.
Except what looks like my big belly. If Princess would have just stood beside me, I could have stood up straight, sucked in my gut and looked presentable. Instead I look like a gal who eats alot of bon bons and beer.
Anyways.......

One that will be treasured for many years to come.

I am a lucky girl.
I count my blessings every day.

Dear God.
Even though I am upset with you for taking my Daddy at such a young age, I do thank you for these special girls in my life.
Love Momma

Mom

{Brace yourselves....this is gonna be mushy}
There are not enough words to describe how I feel about my Momma.
154909_467904021580_583011580_6237002_3967323_n
I have been sitting here trying to find the perfect way to talk about her on this special day, but...... I am having a hard time putting it all out there because of what our family has experienced over the last little while.
Her love and devotion for my Daddy as he went through a horrific time over the last year.
Her bravery as she fought every single day to get him healthy again.
Her commitment towards, not only her immediate family, but also towards her friends and acquaintances even when she was experiencing the toughest time of her life.

I am positive there is no woman stronger...
...braver...
...full of more love...
...devotion.

She is my Hero.

My new goal in this short, fragile life is to live with as much authenticity and bravery as my Mom.

And I fear that it is unachievable.
But I will try.

Even as our family travels this journey without my Daddy, I know my Mommy will make it through it all just fine.
Because she is strong...
...brave...
perfect in every way.

For my Mommy......

{Told ya.  Totally mushy.}

If my Mom blogged.....

If my Mother was a blogger, she would be world famous and make millions.
If my Mother was a blogger she would share her millions with her loving children.
Because she is nice that way.
And Mothers are supposed to do all that nicey nice stuff.

If my Mother was a blogger she would write about her wonderful, perfect daughter and how much she loves her.
Even after all the teen aged years crap.

If my Mother was a blogger today she would write about her son in law.
Because it is his birthday.
Nov_11_2000_002
She would talk about the years when she couldn't use the telephone because her daughter spent hours talking to him.
She would write about how polite he was even as a teenager.
She would write about how happy she was when her daughter became engaged to the polite boy who always called her.
Dad,_boys_001
And how perfect their wedding day was.
And how ecstatic she was when she found out they were going to make her a Grandma even though she didn't want to feel old.
Because she wasn't.
And she would write about that too.

Then she would get all mushy and stuff writing about how much she loved him.  How lucky she is to have him in her life and how she couldn't imagine him not being a part of her everyday.

Wait.  That last part is something I would write.
In fact, I just did.
So there.

Happy Birthday to my {young-ish} hubby.

Not Me! Monday! Surprise Party Edition

Hi.
Momma here. I know. You have missed me. It has been a few days since my last post and I have a good excuse.

Ok, I don't. Because this is Not Me! Monday!

So these are the things that I have not been up to.

I did not go into the hair salon Friday night with brown hair and blonde highlights, and walk out as a redhead. Nope. Not me!

I most definitely did not spend the last month planning a surprise anniversary party for my parents. 27+ people in my home, 5 days before Christmas to surprise my parents for their 35 years of marriage. Nope. It didn't happen.

Ok, it did and it was fantabulous!

I did not tell my parents that I was preparing a turkey dinner {my first} and research "turkey cooking" online and at the stores so I had some idea about what I was telling her.

But if I did, it was genius of me. I know.

My parents were not completely shocked and freaked out when they walked in our door and found 27+ faces yelling "Happy Anniversary"!

The first words my mom said were not "I need to go home and change" because she isn't that concerned about how she looks. At least she was wearing a bra!

Seeing the smiles on my parents faces and seeing many loved ones all together in our home did not make me teary-eyed more than once.

{Ok, it did.}

{I have already received the best Christmas present.}

Photostory Friday-Favourite Pictures of all Time

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and Carissa

Why is this one of my favourite pictures of all time?
Because my grandmother, mother, myself and my daughter are all in it. Together.
That's 4 generations my friends. In the same picture.

When was this picture taken?
May 2008. Mothers Day actually. How appropriate.

Where was it taken?
On my Grandma's sofa.

Hopefully you didnt notice the dark circles under my eyes.

And my rather large thighs.

Happy Friday folks.

You can go here to see one of my other favourite pictures of all time.

The Day I was Born

The world stopped.
And waited.

And when it was announced, the world celebrated.

Ok, not really.

My poor mother was in alot of pain.
My father wasn't in the room.
I was born.
They couldn't believe how perfect I was.
And how big my feet were.

And we all lived happily ever after.

The End

Happy Birthday!

There once was young beautiful Momma.

Not me. *cough*

MY Momma!

She married her handsome Prince and had a baby girl.

Me.

Then she had a baby boy.

My brother.

Now that I am a Momma myself, I now realize the hard work she put in. The long hours. The endless days and nights. All with a smile on her face....most of the time.

I now realize the love she had for us. The sacrifices she made in her own life.

I now understand why she would get angry when her house would get messy 5 minutes after she spent hours cleaning it. I also understand why she wasnt the happiest person to be around on Sundays while she was cleaning.

Cleaning sucks.

Now that I am a Momma, I appreciate her. I appreciate everything she did for us growing up. I appreciate everything she still does for us.

She is a good Momma.

She deserves the vacation she is on right now.

Even though I am not there too.

Happy Birthday to my young beautiful Momma.

I leave you with pictures.
